  • Texts (including formatting)

A dummy text is a meaningless text that is used to test the appearance of printed or digital media.

You may be wondering why you need a special text for this. Good question! The point is that the text should not distract from the content, but only serve as a placeholder. For example, when a designer creates a new layout, they want to focus on the arrangement of the elements without the actual text distracting.

In the past, the phrase "Lorem ipsum" was often used, which comes from Latin. Sounds fancy, doesn't it? But the thing is, this text has no real meaning. It's just letters and words thrown together in a way that makes it look like normal text. But you can't derive anything meaningful from it.

However, there are now also other variants of dummy text that make a little more sense. For example, there is the "Dinotext", which is about dinosaurs. Or the "Cupcake Ipsum", which is all about delicious cupcakes. This makes the whole thing a bit more fun and interesting.
